Paris
Designer is a PC based WYSIWYG application design system that allows the
user to determine the appearance of the document, including the addition
of an electronic form and the position and appearance of the data.
The
user has the ability to implement and design documents that work, with
no changes to the business application. With Paris Designer, elements
such as text, lines, boxes, circles, charts and graphics can be added
to an electronic form. Individual characteristics for each element of
the form can be defined, including the border or colour of a box or the
point size and line spacing of a font. Forms may be edited at any time
- either as a separate operation or as part of a complete document.
Variable
data is identified as "fields" in Paris Designer. Fields can be filled
with variable data or static text and inserted anywhere in a document
by the use of conditional processing or tests. Fields can be used for
calculating new values from the application program, such as totals or
taxes based on a total, and for entirely creating a bar or pie chart.
Field attributes, such as font or colour, can be altered where and when
the field is used.
The
document design process is greatly enhanced by the capability of switching
between the application data and the form, allowing absolute control over
the fine-tuning process of manipulating data and form to arrive at the
final document.
