Paris
Barcode is offered as an optional module and can be used with any Paris
system. With Paris Barcode, barcodes can be calculated and printed from
virtually any data. Barcodes can be placed on a page using any of the
standard Paris methods for adding data to a document. Paris Barcode supports
the following barcodes: Code 3 of 9 , Code 93, Code 128, Codabar, EAN/JAN-8,
EAN/JAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, PostNet, Interleaved 2 of 5, and MSI Plessey.

Paris
Designer includes a powerful field subsystem whereby information can be
extracted from the print file and manipulated. A simple example would
be to extract a customer name and insert it within fully justified form
text to create greater personalisation. More complex field functions include
a range of mathematical operations such as calculation of tax, subtotals
and conversions. Conditional processing can also be performed on fields
to effect features of the document such as forms, page definitions and
trays.

Forms
can be created in Paris Designer that contain both static and dynamic
line, box, circle, chart, graphic and text elements. Dynamic elements
can be linked to the variable data on a page and set to behave dynamically,
for example resize or float, according to the amount of data. The result
is a highly dynamic, intelligent and personalised document.

Conditional
processing delivers the remarkable formatting capacity to completely alter
the appearance of a single page within a large print run on the basis
of the presence of a particular character or characters on that page.
With Paris Designer and conditional processing:
 |
change
forms based on a word in a single text block |
|
 |
apply
messages to past due statements without altering current account applications |
|
 |
alter
graphics to target specific customers or according to the data on
the page |
|
 |
change
fonts or colours according to numeric values |
|
 |
remove
the need for manual data entry by the addition of barcodes or OCR
characters. |

Page
overflow allows you to determine the length of a given section within
a page. If the number of lines exceeds this length Paris Designer can
automatically continue to a designated "overflow" page which
can use a different page definition and form. A good example of this would
be statements or invoices containing any number of line items. Combining
this feature with fields allows you to retain information from the first
page for inclusion on subsequent pages as well as calculation of page
numbers.

By
using fields Paris Designer is able to dynamically call images or graphics
based on information in the print stream. Ideal for catalogue applications
Paris Designer is able to extract variable data, such as part numbers,
and call a corresponding image.

Paris
Designer is able to extract information from the print stream and represent
it as point, bar or pie charts for more effective representation of complex
data for highly personalised documents.

Colour
is a natural feature of Paris Designer and is available for all variable
and fixed elements including images, text and form objects. Use colour
to enhance documents and draw attention to important information.
